When purchasing tile for your home, one of the details you should consider is pattern. There are so many ways to lay our tile and our showroom floors display many of them, but here is a guide to some of the most popular tile patterns available to you.
Straight Lay
This is the simplest, most common tile pattern. Aligned with the walls of the room, it highlights the beauty of the tile.
Diamond or Diagonal
Tile is set at a 45-degree angle adding a little bit of interest to your space and making your floors feel more expansive.
Brick or Offset
Tiles are offset by half the width of the tile. This pattern has infinite options. You can lay them out vertically, horizontally, diagonally, etc.
Checkerboard
This pattern alternates two different colors in a straight or diagonal pattern to create a checkerboard look. Whether you’re going for a classic black and white or a more neutral color palette, this pattern makes a statement.
Diagonal with Dots
Larger square tiles laid out in a diagonal pattern, with clipped corners accented by smaller square tiles. Creates an elegant grid of dots.
Modular
This pattern is made up of three or more different sized tiles laid out in a repeating pattern.
Pinwheel
Also known as Hopscotch, this pattern is created by one small square tile surrounded by four larger square ones.
Windmill
Similar to Pinwheel, Windmill is made up of one small square tile surrounded by four rectangle ones. This results in a grid of small dots popular in bathrooms.
